MA English is entitled by UGC to be offered in Online Mode

Department of Languages, Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science offers, Master of Arts in English. It is a two-year postgraduate programme that deals with the study of English Literature and Language. It equips the students with analytical and critical thinking skills to produce original insights in scholarly academic writing and discourse.

Relevance of M.A. English in the modern world

During an English literature Masters degree programme, students scrutinize and debate a variety of texts, as well as acquiring knowledge of literary movements, periods and critical approaches that have shaped the way we view literature today.

Study of English literature at Masters level leads to developing comprehensive written and spoken communication skills, becoming adept at arguing a point, framing a narrative and analyzing various levels of meaning.

Having a Masters in English, besides knowledge seeking endeavors, also offers a wide scope in terms of employability.

  • Technical writers typically take on a wide range of projects as well, from writing product descriptions to designing documents like newsletters and brochures.

Positions that are likely to require a MA English include director communications, managing editor, editor-in-chief, and publisher.

Eligibility

  • B.A English or any UG degree with English as subject
  • The candidate must have secured minimum 50% or equivalent grades from recognized university

Duration and Validity

Duration of M.A English is 2 years and registration period is valid for 4 years.

Examination Fee:

  • Examination fee for the First attempt is already included in the course fee. For arrears exam Fee of Rs. 500/- to be paid for each course and for each attempt.
