Yes, the curriculum and syllabus is same for the regular and ODL/Online programs.

Are the Programs offered by HITS entitled by UGC?

Yes, the programs are entitled by AICTE/UGC.

Is HITS Post Graduate Degree valid?

Yes, a Post Graduate Degree from HITS is valid and accepted by all major corporates in India as well as in foreign countries. HITS is a globally entitled institution by UGC and AICTE. HITS is accredited by NAAC, NBA, NIRF, etc.

Eligibility

What are the eligibility criteria for admission?
Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Graduates / Bachelor's Degree holders of any discipline from a recognized University who have scored a minimum of 50% aggregate are eligible to apply.

Master of Computer Applications (MCA)

Under graduate degree with science or applied science in Computer Applications or Computer Science or Information Technology or other computer related areas with minimum 50% of marks. The candidates should have studied core Mathematics either at +2 level or Mathematics/statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.

B.Com. (Bachelor of Commerce)

Three year program CommerceFintech. Banking and Finance Candidates who have passed Class 12th/PUC/HSC from any stream are eligible for Admission to B.Com. Program.

BBA(Bachelor of Business Administration)

Three year program Travel and Tourism Aviation Logistics Candidates who have passed Class 12th/PUC/HSC from any stream are eligible for Admission to BBA Program.

BCA(Bachelor of Computer Applications)

Three year program Data Base Systems Multimedia and Animation Data Analytics Candidate from any stream (Science, Commerce or Arts) securing 50% or more at 10+2 level without any approximation is eligible to take Admission to BCA program

I am awaiting my final year UG Course results. Am I eligible to apply for admission?

Yes. You may very well apply. But you will be provisionally admitted, subject to the production of provisional certificate/consolidated mark sheet as proof of fulfilling the prescribed eligibility criteria at the stipulated period specified in the provisional admission, failing which provisional admission granted, will be cancelled.

Is experience required for admission?

No, there is no professional working experience required for admission.

Is there any age restriction for joining any program offered by HITS?

No. There is no age restriction for pursuing any program offered by HITS. Since, distance education encourages lifelong learning , whoever is interested to learn, can pursue. But, the learner must fulfill the minimum age limit.

Admission

Where do I get information about the admission Process?

Information about the admissions process will be available in Website and Social Media.

How do I get the application form for admission?

Eligible candidates can apply online, by filling in the application form, uploading required documents and paying the Application fee of Rs.1000/- (nonrefundable).

Do I have to send my Original Certificates?

On confirmation of admission and after payment of the fee, original certificates are required to be submitted for verification.

How should I pay the fees at the time of admission?

A Candidate can pay program fee online. Candidates seeking admission at HITS office in person can remit their fees directly through challan at Indian Overseas Bank, HITS Branch.

Could I send the fee through Postal Orders or money orders or through credit cards?

Postal Orders, Money Orders, Mail Transfers and Cash Payments/Credit Cards will not be accepted.

What is the Fee structure? Should we submit the entire fees at once or in installments?

Fee can be paid annually depending upon the duration of course.

Academic

Does the University provide study materials for all programs?

Yes. CODE will provide study materials for all programs. Students will get online course material or printed material depending on the course they have opted i.e. Online (OL) or Open Distance Learning (ODL)

Do I get study materials for all the semesters during my admission?

No. You will receive only the Study materials for first Semester immediately after the admission. The study materials for the subsequent semesters will be sent before the commencement of the next semester, which will guide you for effective learning i.e Online (OL) or Open Distance Learning (ODL).

In case I don't receive the study materials, who should I contact?

In case of non-receipt of study materials you can contact CODE through telephone or email / WhatsApp. The status of despatch will be replied to you from our side. But make it sure that there is someone at your residence to collect the books and the address you have provided to us is correct with pin code.

Does CODE offer Personal Contact Program (PCP)?

For Open Distance Programs contact programs may be arranged after the pandemic situation improves. Live online sessions will be conducted in all the semesters in lieu of contact programs.

Is the attendance for Personal Contact Program (PCP) classes compulsory?

Yes, whenever contact programs are conducted as well as on the online session attendance is compulsory. A minimum of 75% attendance is essential to appear for the end semester exam.

Can I change my PCP Centre?

There is only one centre which is in HITS, Padur Campus.

How will I know about the PCP schedule?

You will be informed about the Personal Contact Program classes. But it is suggested that you refer frequently the Web Site.

How will I be evaluated during the Programs? What is the minimum marks required for a pass?

Assessment will be carried out in two ways. Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA) which will be conducted throughout the semester in the form of assignment, quiz and test. The weightage between CIA and End Semester Exam (ESE) is the ratio of 40:60. The minimum marks required for a pass is 50% in both CIA and ESE.

Is there a provision for improvement exams?

No. There is no provision for writing improvement examinations under any circumstances.

Is there any provision for re-totaling or revaluation?

Yes. Re-totaling and Revaluation of papers can be done for which the student has to pay a fee of Rs.**/- per paper for re-totaling and Rs.***/- per paper for revaluation. Requests pertaining to re-totaling/revaluation will be entertained only within a span of 15 days from the date of declaration of results. Requests received beyond this date will summarily be rejected. Students, who failed in more than 2 papers, are not eligible for applying for revaluation. All requests in this regard should be addressed to the Controller of Examinations. You may also note that the Examination related evaluation disputes/answer scripts will be entertained up to a period of six months from the date of the examination and thereafter no claim will be entertained in this regard.

What is the procedure to get a provisional certificate/ consolidated mark statement?

The Controller of Examinations will send the Provisional Certificates through Registered Post to the students who complete the program successfully. You need not apply for it But, for a Consolidated Mark Statement, you should download the application form from the website and apply to the Controller of Examination.

Who should I contact if I don't receive mark sheets or certificates?

You should write or call or email to the Controller of Examinations/ Registrar for non-receipt of Marks statement or Certificates.

Where do I find the Academic Calendar?

What is the duration of the Post Graduate Degree program?

The minimum duration for completion of the Post Graduate Degree program shall be two years and the maximum period shall be four years. The names of students, who have not completed the program within this maximum period, shall be removed from the roll.

What is the duration of Under Graduate Degree program?

The minimum duration for completion of the Under Graduate Degree program shall be three years and the maximum period shall be six years. The names of students, who have not completed the program within this maximum period, shall be removed from the roll.

What are the courses offered by CODE?

CODE offers PG & UG Degree programs. The name of the programs are as follows:

The student can choose any of the programs depending on one's flair, aptitude and eligibility.

Does CODE offer any full-time program or all the program are offered through ODL?

CODE offer OL & ODL programs. For more details, please refer to CODE website. ODL differs from correspondence : Online sessions are held. Pre recorded videos and the easily comprehensible course material enable the learner to learn at their own pace. The blended sessions replace the contact program till normalcy is restored.

What is the objective of programs offered?

The programs offered help aspiring managers to become effective decision makers in their fields through upgradation of knowledge and managerial skills. The program broadens the overall perspective of the managers so that they can become catalysts for change. It develops conceptual, interpersonal and management awareness for implementation of new structures and strategies. Improves managerial effectiveness and prepares managers for more senior positions.

Is additional/dual specialization is possible in CODE programs?

Specializations are offered within the program.

After registering for a program in a term, can I carry over the fees to the next term if I am not able to complete the program?

Yes. The program has to be completed within the maximum permissible period i.e. for UG 6 years and PG 4 years, beyond which the students have to enroll again paying the full fee for the course.

Will the classes be taught live? Will there be any interaction?

Yes. Pre-recorded lessons and assignments will also be made available on our portal. Learners can learn from the content released each week at their own pace, but will be required to submit the weekly assignments online within stipulated deadlines. Weekly LIVE sessions will be conducted to clear doubts and interact with the program instructor and learner support team.

What are the class schedules for this course?

Saturday & Sunday: 7 pm to 9 pm. A detailed day-wise schedule will be circulated to students at the beginning of each semester

Can I pursue the programs from outside India?

Yes. For ODL mode physical presence is required at HITS, Padur, Chennai, for contact program and to appear in the end semester exam. Incase, you have choosen to attend an online program physical presence is not required.

Can the credits earned from NPTEL platform be transferred to the programs?

Yes. Credits from MOOCs will be taken into account if the course is relevant and mapped to the curriculum.

Does CODE have an entrance exam for the programs?

No, there is no entrance test for admission in CODE.

How will I be able to run experiments and access labs for this program?

The program which features high usage of experiential learning components can be done in the Virtual Labs.

What is the language of instruction for these programs? Are they available in other regional languages?

Medium of instruction for all programs (except the languagues in UG Program) is English. Hence, we expect a minimum proficiency in the English language to participate in the program

Is there any fee collected for the temporary break of study from the programs

The program has to be completed within the maximum permissible period i.e. for UG 6 years and PG 4 years, beyond which the students have to enroll again paying full fee for the course. No additional fee will be collected.

Who is mentor? Will CODE help me finding a Mentor?

Candidates enrolled for Online Programs (OL) will be assigned a Mentor, who will monitor the academic progress of the candidate, and act as an advisor & coach for successful completion of the program.

What learning methodology does CODE use?

CODEuse a blended approach to student learning with a combination of recorded lectures, online study materials, and faculty & group interactions.

Is it compulsory to do the Project Work?

Yes. Project work is an integral part of Post Graduate Degree programs.

For my project, am I supposed to have a guide? Is it compulsory? If yes, what should be the background / qualification of my Project Guide?

It is compulsory to have a guide for your project work. A guide should have a minimum post-graduate qualification in the relevant area with a minimum of five years' industry experience at an executive level, or should be Assistant Professor or above if working for an academic institution. The CV of guide should be attached with the synopsis.

I am working on a project in my office; can I submit the same at CODE?

Yes, any professional project taken by you can be used as the academic project as well provided it fulfills the requirement of the program as detailed in the project guidelines.

How / where do I ask questions or doubts related to the content of the programs

The programs will have a discussion forum where learners can raise their program-related questions and interact with the course instructor or learner support team. For all questions not related to the program, you may write to odl@hindustanuniv.ac.in

Is there any internal assessment for all programs

Assessment will be carried out in two ways. Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA) which will be conducted throughout the semester in the form of assignment, quiz and test. The weightage between CIA and End Semester Exam (ESE) is the ratio of 30:70. The minimum marks required for a pass is 50% in both CIA and ESE.

How many assignments have to be submitted?

There are four to five assignments for each subject. Students are required to attempt all the online assignments through their student portal, of which their average score will be considered for grading. They are free to refer textbooks, study materials, journals, the Internet and other sources for relevant information while doing the assignments.

Where does a student submit his/her assignments?

Student needs to submit the online assignments through their student portal only.

Can I get some assistance for the Assignments & Examinations?

This can be considered based on the actual requirement in terms of support for any Subject or Topic.

What are the technological requirements for this program?

Access to good internet connection as well as a laptop / desktop device will be a key requirement to learn effectively from our programs. Familiarity with Google tools would be an advantage. For proctored online exams only laptop/desktop are to be used.

Who would be teaching this program?

The academic modules will be taught by senior CODE faculty who teach on campus programs at CODE. In addition to faculty from CODE & HITS, senior leadership from the industry and International faculty would also participate in delivering certain topics/modules.

Administration

Do you have non-semester or semester pattern for your programs?

We follow semester pattern for conduct of course.

Can I change my program / specialization during my course of study?

No. Change of program will not be entertained in any case. Candidates seeking admission to the various programs are requested to choose their program of study with utmost care.

Where can I collect the books and ID card after taking admission?

Once the Admission status is approved, the Self-Learning Material will be dispatched to the student. Soft copy of the self-learning material will also be made available in the learner's portal. ID card will be issued to the students.

Is there an attendance policy for this program?

Attendance will be considered for attending online sessions/contact programs. Minimum 75% attendance is required for attending the end semester exam

What kind of certificate will I receive at the end of the program?

Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive a Post Graduate Degree program certificate or respective UG Degree certificate from CODE/HITS.

How will the exams be conducted?

Every course shall have two components of assessments namely, a. Continuous Internal Assessment "CIA" This assessment will be carried out throughout the semester as per the Academic Schedule.

b. End Semester Examination "ESE". This assessment will be carried out at the end of the semester as per the Academic Schedule. Continuous Internal Assessment"CIA" CIA will be conducted in the form of online assignments, tests and quizzes. Participants will need to appear in-person to take the end semester exams at the exam center at HITS Padur, Chennai. In case participants are unable to take an exam due to work-related commitments, there is also a provision for appearing as arrear paper whenever conducted.

How do I know the exam schedule?

The Exam Schedule will be uploaded in the website well in advance. However, Exam Schedule will be sent to you along with your hall ticket. If there is any change in the schedule due to unforeseen circumstances the students will be intimated in advance.

Are the exam dates flexible?

No. The exam dates are not flexible. The quiz and end term exam dates are fixed for all learners taking the same program in a term. We try our best to schedule all exams during the weekends though it may not be possible for every exam.

Do you have any online examination?

As of now MBA/MCA are offered in ODL Mode. In ODL Mode semester exams are conducted only by the traditional pen and paper method. UG Programs such as BBA, Bcom& BCA are conducted in Online Mode. For Online programs proctored online exams will be conducted.

How should the subsequent semester fees to be paid?

Course fees shall be paid annually.

What are the additional expenses to be borne by a participant?

Travelling, boarding & lodging expenses during the campus module and while appearing for the end semester examination shall be borne by the participant. If a participant opts to avail accommodation on HITS campus (subject to availability) they shall pay the lodging charges directly to HITS facility management.

Is there any fine/late fee to be paid for the delay in payment of fee beyond the prescribed dates?

Yes. The late payment fee will have to be paid if there is a delay in payment of a fee beyond the due date.

What will happen if I fail to pay the tuition fee on time?

You may please note that, if the fee is not paid till the last date of the month of payment of fees, names of the defaulters shall be removed from the rolls of the HITS after informing the students.

Will I be communicated if my name is removed from the roll for non-payment of fees?

Yes. You will receive intimation from HITS regarding the removal of name from the rolls. However, in case if you miss the postal letter, it is advisable that to visit the website to check out for your name in the defaulters list.

Am I eligible for readmission if my name is removed from the rolls?

Yes. You may be re-admitted within the stipulated period only (Four Years for PG Program and Six Years for UG Program) on the recommendation of the Director, HITS and on payment of arrears fee in full and other dues, together with a re-admission fee.

Whom to contact and how to get Caution Deposit?

There is no caution deposit component in the fee structure.

Will I get a scholarship / loan for this program?

For information on Scholarships, Concessions and Fee Waiver towards of Covid Martyrs refer to the website, https://hindustanuniv.ac.in/ For loan approach any financial institution who sanctions education loan.

How can a candidate apply for an education loan?

Once the candidate is selected for the program, the student may get in touch with the financial institutions who sanctions loan for education purpose

How can a company sponsor their employees for the program?

To sponsor employees, the company needs to sign an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with HITS, after which they may sponsor their employees. For this, the company needs to send request odl@hindustanuniv.ac.in

Do you accept sponsorship for the students? Is there any reservation for company-sponsored candidates? Is the admission process different for sponsored candidates?

Yes. The Institute accepts company-sponsored candidates and there is no reservation. The admission process is only through the specific tests followed by personal interview.

How can someone pay the registration fee?

The Registration fee can be paid via Credit Card (Master/Visa), Debit Card (Master/Visa/Rupay), and Net Banking.

Will the participant be given the Alumni status on successful completion of the program?

The participants are considered as bonafide students of HITS and will enjoy similar privileges, including alumni status

When will the first batch start? What is the timeline?

Classes for the first batch will commence on 8th March 2021.

Is HITS government or private University?

HITS is a private deemed to be University. The University is located in Padur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Hindustan College of Engineering, started in the year 1985, was conferred the "University Status" by University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India, Under Section 3 of UGC Act 1956 from the academic year 2008-09 and under the name HITS (Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science).

Will students who enter the program have internship / recruitment opportunities provided by HITS?

There is a separate Industry Interaction Cell being set up as part of the Post Graduate Degree program to facilitate interactions of the industry with the learners in the Post Graduate Degree program to encourage collaborations for internship and recruitment. We will try to make internship/recruitment opportunities available to learners.

How often will there be interaction with faculty?

Per subject/course 10-20 live sessions will be conducted during which the students may clarify doubts and interact with the program instructor.

Does the Post Graduate Degree programs provide the participant with an opportunity to acquire international exposure?

As of now, there is no international exchange program integrated into this Post Graduate Degree programs. However a subject/course or certain modules may be covered by international faculties.

Post Graduate Degree programs ranking?

HITS have been ranked by National Institutional Ranking Framework (Govt. of India) at the 107th position among top Engineering Institutions. The institution has been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade scoring a CGPA of 3.3 out of 4.0

Post Admission
What are the MGPA and CGPA scores in the Grade Card? How are they calculated?

Modular grade point average (MGPA) is the average of points of each subject. Cumulative grade point average (CGPA) is the average of all modules.

A grading system as shown in the below table will be followed.

If I do not get my original grade card, is there a procedure to obtain a duplicate grade card?

If you do not receive your grade card within one month of declaration of result, then you should contact COE at HITS by email, coe@hindustanuniv.ac.in

When should I send the examination application form?

University Examinations will be held twice a year in June and December. The students are advised to download the Examination application form, instructions to candidates and time table from the University website. The above material will not be sent by post to the individual student. Photo copies of the downloaded materials may also be used. The filled-in examination application form along with the requisite fees should be directly sent to the Controller of Examination, HITS, Chennai 603 103 within the last date stipulated at that time.

Details of the examination fees to be remitted are indicated in the instruction to the candidate enclosed with the exam form. Hall ticket for the examinations will be sent directly by the Controller of Examinations to the students before the commencement of the examinations.

How much time does it take for publication of results?

Publication of the results takes place within one month from the last day of examinations.

What should I do if I don’t receive my hall ticket?

If you don’t receive the hall ticket, you can enquire with the Exam Wing of HITS for the status of despatch of your hall ticket. In case, if it is lost in transit or delayed in delivery, you may download the hall ticket which will be uploaded in the University website a few days before the commencement of the examinations.

What if I misplace / losse my hall ticket?

You should immediately inform the University Observer in your Exam Center. The Exam Center Superintendent or the University Observer will guide you through.

What is the procedure to get the degree (convocation) certificate?

The candidates who successfully pass through all the papers should apply for convocation. The convocation application can be downloaded from the website and sent to the Controller of Examinations, HITS. Degree certificates will be issued to candidates only if they apply for the same. The Degree will be conferred in absentia and will be sent by Registered Post within three months from the date of the convocation.

Where to get mark sheets, Provisional and Degree certificates?

Individual mark sheets for each semester, provisional and degree certificates are issued by The Controller of Examination after the publication of results.

I need a provisional certificate of my program that I have completed. Who do I contact and how much do I pay?

You will get the provisional certificate for the degree program, after successful completion of the program.
